European Forum Alpbach (Austria) 2016. Part 1. Professional Programme on European Health Care and Social Systems in Transition.

I spent the end of this summer holiday participating in European Forum Alpbach in Alpbach, Austria in Professional Programme on European Health Care and Social Systems in Transition.

The European Forum Alpbach (EFA) is an interdisciplinary platform for science, politics, business and culture. Established in 1945, the annual European Forum Alpbach and its  events throughout the year address the relevant socio-political questions of our time. EFA connects international decision-makers from all sectors of society with an interested audience and committed young people. The goal is to create a dialogue across the generational, ideological and other lines that divide us.

EFA offers not only a myriad of interdisciplinary seminars and sessions, but it also hold a Professional Programme on European Health Care and Social Systems in Transition, which lasts from August 17th till August 25th. The Programme has an intensive curriculum full of lectures in English that last from early morning till late in the afternoon. The lectures are conducted by various international industry and academia experts that were invited to Alpbach for the purpose of presenting during the EFA Programme.

The Alpbach Professional Programme on European Health Care and Social Systems in Transition gives a comprehensive insight into the intricacies of organizing and reforming health and social systems, and the interrelationships between economics, public health, health sciences, regulations and many other fields governing the decision makers, professionals and people alike.

The core theme of this year’s Programme was Integrated Healthcare, which is the cornerstone of the modern development of a healthcare system across the world. Some of the topics included care integration, developing competencies for integrated care, social marketing, long-term care in Europe, insurance in Europe etc.

It was an incredible, eye-opening, and even in some way mind-blowing experience, which was also a great addition to the MSc in Public Health at KI! Check out the link below, apply next year and enjoy this fascinating experience in Austria among young people and professionals that are building the world of tomorrow!
