Much like the Global Health ‘Potluck’ that happened at the beginning of our course, Global Health had a Christmas Party too. This was organized by our Course Director Joel, and was jointly attended by Global Health and Public Health, Epidemiology students, along with some additional members of staff/course assistants and the likes. It was held in the lunch area at Widestromska and we were all instructed to bring food – and share. It might not sound like your ideal way to spend a Thursday night, and honestly some of us were a little skeptical, however – as with everything in life – it is the people who make it. We have such a dynamic strong and interesting set of individuals in our Global Health course that any gathering turns into a memorable event.
Caity Jackson – my fellow KI Digital ambassador for Global Health decided that any Christmas party requires a pre party crafting session. Despite writing an exam earlier in the day – Caity turned up armed with craft paper, glue and scissors, determined to co-opt any one (and everyone) around her to conduct some variety of Christmas crafting. These little Christmas crafts spiced up the yellow halls of Widestromsa, and the addition of some good Swedish Glögg fortified the party attendants, result = festive gathering of Global Health students!
Amazing food was again supplied by all the different participants, and included cultural traditional favorites; Rice pudding from Sweden, Mince Pies from the UK… among other things.
As we head towards the end of the year, and the end of the course, all of us are feeling a little melancholy about the imminent loss of our Global Health friends, we have all become so close and the thought of not having this contact with each other is rather a difficult thing to get ones head around. Look forward to meeting amazing people, and forming amazing bonds with these people! Apply to Global Health – for no other reason than to meet beautiful people!
Yes – we really love our fellow Global Health Students…..
